There are a number of ways to hold back curtains to give a draped effect. The length, shape and position the tie-back will be in must be considered. Also the thickness of the curtain and where the tie-back should be fitted needs consideration.
Tie-backs are traditionally made in a crescent shape, stitched onto buckrum with or without a piped edge, and can be in a contrast fabric. For a more contemporary look choose a rectangular shape.
Ties can also be made into a plait from casings of fabric filled with dacron.
Rope tie-backs with or without tassels are made from cords and come in a variety of colours which can be mixed.
